Writing Sample 2 - Imaginary Friend Story

What were the writing goals that you were trying to achieve in this piece of writing?

First up we had to create a hook to get the reader involved and want to carry on and read it.

then we had to remember one time we made up mischief and blamed it on our imaginary friend and write about that.

What are you proud of about this piece of writing?

I am very proud of the way I used heaps of verbs, nouns, and all sorts like that and even describing words.Because I like the way I attracted some readers to read my amazing narrative with these awesome words.

What writing skills or features would improve your writing?

More punctuation e.g explanation marks and question marks apostrophes and all stuff like that I will also like to add more of my senses.

What was different about playing on the golf course to the back fields?

The grass was shorter.

What skills did you need to use when you were playing? Keep your head down tilt pop and drop.

What was the most challenging part of playing on the golf course? it is much bigger.

MY SELF AGENT GOAL THIS WEEK… (MONDAY) My self agent goal is to not call out on the mat and not yell through out the classroom. I will do this by keeping my ideas in my head and only talk when I'm asked to talk. REFLECTION: (THURSDAY)this goal was alright but I called out sometimes and other times I didn't

HOW DID YOU GO WITH OUR WEEKLY CHARACTER GOAL:  (How did I show this goal? (Give some examples)  How could I be better at this goal?) Pretty good because I did show tolerance and I keeped my thoughts to my head

BEACH EDUCATION DAY

What are some key things you learn ed at beach education….

I learn ed that you always have to swim between the flags because their might be rips or currents outside of the flag, the 8 rules of being sun smart which were slip, slop, slap, wrap, smudge, seek, slurp and step. Sun smart is making sure your not getting burnt and being safe at the beach.

What was the best part of the day? Why?

I reckon boogie boarding was the best part of the day because I learnt how to catch waves and I got to get wet and go out real far in the sea

What was your favourite part of the movie?

My favourite part of the movie was when Jack Will strucked Julian in the face because Julian was making fun of Auggie.

What is the main message from the movie?

Dont judge a book by its cover.

Write a summary of the movie?

This movie was about a 12 year old boy who had a face problem when he was born and he had to go under 27 surgereys some of the surgerys made him live some of them made him healthier and some others made him look better.At the age of 12 Auggie had been home schooled his home life but the parents thought it was time to take auggie to the next level and take him to school.So in auggies first year of school alot went on at the start he met some new friends called jack summer and charlotte. auggie started to get bullied by this kid called jullian but then jack auggies friend stuck up for auggie then punched julian in the face but got stood down for 2 days. At the end of the year auggie and his class and school got to go on a massive really cool end of year trip and then at the end of school year graduation auggie won something big.

Name one difference between the book and the movie.

in the book auggie had hearing aids but in the movie he didnt.

Write a movie review. (include your opinion of the movie and whether you’d recommend it to others)

I highly recommend this because the movie and book really tells you a story and its funny but some parts are a bit touching and if you cry easily you might not make it through.

WRITING SKILLS - HOOKING THE READER IN

What is the purpose of a hook?  Why do we need to put them in our writing?

So the reader will want to keep the reader entertained and the reader will want to stay tuned and want to read more of the story.

What are some different ways we can start our narrative writing. (List and explain as many as you can - remember to look at the posters).

You could use some onomatopoeia or some persuasive sentence starters or persuasive sentences you could use something that happened in the story like SPLAT blood poring out of his head how will he survive then start writing how that happened.

Type in the best hook you have used in your writing this term.

Covered from head to toe in the cow poo smelling thick brown mud as I start to hear death DE fiying footsteps of my mum that you could hear from china and back "MAAAAAAAAAAAAAAX" she yelled.

Because it has some really good description words that made it interesting and the reader will want to find out how that happened so they will keep on reading.

ART GALLERY VISIT - LEN LYE ART

What was unique and interesting about Len Lye art?the noise It created because it made me engaged to see what else he had created.

What did you find out about this artist?that most of his artistic work was ran by a motor.

Describe the process you used to create your artwork at the art gallery. (Put as much detail and explanation as you can).I tried my hardest just putting random things together and trying to make random dingy noises.

What do you like about your art work?  Why? I liked my imagination and craziness I put into my ideas because it fancied it up

Explain how you find the perimeter of a shape …..

add up all the sides and whatever it equals that's the answer

3 Peaks Challenge 2017

How did you overcome your challenges?

By having a growth mindset and being positive Paul and positive Paul is someone thats never negative and they always want to laugh and have a growth mindset

Explain what the 3 Peaks challenge is.

3 peak is a challenge is when you have to conquer 3 mountains and the 3 mountains we did was Mt Grey, Mt Thomas and Mt Isobel

Describe the first two walks.

The first two walks were very challenging because there were heaps and heaps of different mud's part and very steep parts but we all used a growth mindset and did very well.

What did you find challenging about these walks

the steep and very muddy parts because they really tested our mind on how we are gonna conquer it.

What did you enjoy about the 3 Peaks walks?

everything and especially the hot pool reward because I got to spend time walking with my mum and I got to have really yummy lunches and I was walking because I love walking and of course missing out a day of school.

GOLF REFLECTION WEEK ….

List and describe as many of the skills you learnt this week as you can. (think about the different skills for chipping and swing shots)tilt pop and drop then swing pretend threes a river when I'm chipping so i get some height.

What do you think that you were successful with?  Why?my long range hits because I took my time and I keeped my head down and the ball went about 100 yards

What was the most challenging thing you found with golf this week?the chipping because I'm not the best and its hard to get height
